A plenary session at the 2022 BUIRA annual conference will address the question of ‘why industrial relations?’ The Association addressed this question its publication on ‘What’s the point of Industrial Relations?’ A published paper with this title (Linda Clarke et al, in IJ of Comparative Labour Law and IR, 27/3 [2011]) is referenced below. It makes the point that IR, or employment relations, may be being supplanted by HRM and/or OB. The point of this survey is to assess colleagues’ experiences and capture their reflections, so as to inform the plenary discussion.
