“Hearing the unheard: amplifying the voices of frontline service workers”

Applications are invited for a funded PhD studentship in the Department of Work, Employment and Organisation at Strathclyde Business School starting September 2022.

The 2020 pandemic has highlighted the dependency of society on workers in retail, logistics and the platformed mediated gig economy, many of whom are in low paid and insecure employment, and among the most likely to be treated unfairly. The project is interested in understanding the dynamics of contemporary employee voice in frontline service work, its potential to empower the most vulnerable, and to promote good jobs and fair work. It will be supervised by Stewart Johnstone and stewart.johnstone@strath.ac.uk and Kendra Briken kendra.briken@strath.ac.uk

Please feel free to circulate to potential candidates. Informal enquiries are welcome.  Deadline for applications Thursday 31 March 2022. For more information see https://tinyurl.com/2p8zafc4
