Benefits of Membership

As a member of BUIRA you will receive a weekly Bulletin giving your news of industrial relations events such as BUIRA study group meetings and other seminars and activities, call for papers, vacancies etc.

You will also be notified about and entitled to attend the BUIRA Study Groups at no charge.

You will also be notified about the call for papers for the BUIRA annual conference an invited to attend conference for a small fee. Conference is normally held at the end of June/ beginning of July each year starting on Thursday and ending Saturday

The current membership fee for BUIRA is £40 per year (£20 for PhD students and associate members) paid by standing order.


BUIRA is offering to provide up to four Bursaries for its members wishing to attend the International Labour and Employee Relations Association Conference

The funds are open to doctoral students and new researchers (those within the first two years of an academic post) who have no other, or limited sources of funds. Successful applicants for the Bursaries must show evidence of having had a paper accepted for the Conference, or are beginning to show research activity in the field of Industrial Relations. In addition, applicants need to show evidence that they had approached their institution for funding prior to making the application for a bursary. This can take the form of a letter from their supervisor or Head of Department.

The maximum sum payable is set at no more than £1,000 per individual. Bursaries will be paid after successful applicants submit conference-related expenses to the Treasurer. Applications should be returned by 27th April.

Applicants for the bursary should use the attached form, and provide an additional 300 word statement outlining how attendance at the conference will benefit their personal development.
